Around fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state early analysis indicate the fluid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for details.
An important official said the vandalism rendered him without words and had to be resolved promptly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
