Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player secured his maiden title for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his first title following the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface since March of 2023.

Success also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

His counter-punching approach and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led commentators to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an better serve.

He recovered from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

The opponent defended 4 initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the net area, with Moutet unable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
